Many people don’t know that acupuncture and Chinese medicine are effective treatments for mental health. Problems ranging from anxiety and depression to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or issues associated with a history of abuse can be significantly reduced. Insidious problems such as low self-esteem, lack of motivation or trouble communicating can also be addressed. For more serious conditions such as suicidal thoughts, we work closely with your mental health specialist to provide an integrative treatment solution.

Acupuncture has been proven to regulate neurotransmitters (message carriers) in the brain, such as serotonin, dopamine and many other chemicals that impact mood. Reward cycles, risk taking behaviors, sexual function, appetite, sleep, memory, and emotional responses such as excessive anger or long-term grief can be regulated with acupuncture. Acupuncture is effectively combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (e.g. talk therapy) in psychology.

Acupuncture makes our patients feel relaxed, open to different perspectives, provides clarity, reduces stress, tension, and creates a safe space to explore difficult problems.
