
Nathan J. Heide
DAOM, MBA, LAc
A native Oregonian originally from Corvallis and raised in Southern California, Dr. Heide is a seasoned sports acupuncture expert and healthcare advisor with over 20 years of leadership and healthcare private practice management. He is dedicated to helping his patients achieve optimal results through evidence-based, sports acupuncture, dry-needling and rehabilitation therapies.
Dr. Heide is the founder of Anjuna Sports Acupuncture, where he developed a thriving practice specializing in sports acupuncture with the goal of improve athletic performance for his clients. He holds a Doctorate from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, an MBA in Finance and Securities Analysis from the Lundquist College of Business, an MS from Pacific College of Health Sciences, and a BA in English Literature with a focus on Naval Science from the University of Michigan. He is a nationally board-certified Diplomate in East Asian Medicine (Dipl. O.M.) and licensed acupuncturist (LAc) in California and Oregon.
Prior to his healthcare career, he served as a Naval Surface Warfare Officer aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) and USS Camden (AOE-2), and as a Logistics Planner for CNE-C6F (Africa Region) in Naples, Italy. He received his commission from NROTC, University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).

- Owner of Anjuna Sports Acupuncture since 2013.
- One year specialty internship in Movement Therapy with Dr. James Fox, PhD and Dr. Greg Moore, MD in Eugene, Oregon.
- Rady’s Children’s Hospital Intern: Co-managed hematology/oncology/RPS/CRPS cases (In Patient Care) on an integrated medical team with MDs.
- UCSD Oncology Center Intern, (Encinitas, CA): Helped optimize patient medical treatments via a multi-disciplinary approach, providing optimal physical, emotional, and spiritual guidance to challenge their illness.
- Integrated Pain Management Intern: Received advanced training using integrative pain management techniques in hematology department at SHARP Memorial Hospital, San Diego.
- Orthopedic/Sports Injury Intern: Received additional advanced Orthopedic & sports injury training with Drew Taylor, L.Ac., using Sports Acupuncture needling & ZhengGu Tuina protocols for orthopedic cases.
- International Sports Acupuncture Clinic: Conducted a three week international climber’s injury-repair clinic in Geyikbayiri, Turkey.
- Collaborates with UO Duck Athletes at part of a community treatment sports injury rehabilitation team.
- Received advanced training in Advanced Needle Technique and Dry-Needling applications to sports/orthopedic patients from the Lotus Institute of Integrated Medicine.
- Eugene Marathon Sports Injury Therapist: volunteered sports rehab treatments to marathon runners.
- Pink Buffalo Racing Therapist: provided sports therapy services to race runners.
